There are approximately 10 miles of groomed trails throughout Chapman Sanctuary/Visny Woods (CSVW) on close to 160 acres. The White Mountain National Forest abuts CSVW on the north and west. Trail maps are available at the kiosk located at the Chapman House orDOWNLOAD TRAIL MAP HERE.
Chapman Sanctuary and Visny Woods is open to the public during daylight hours year round for hiking, bird watching, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing
NO admission fee
Trails are groomed in winter for X-country skiing and snowshoeing
RIVER TRAIL is snowshoe ONLY in winter
Groups are welcome with advance notice
Picnic tables are available behind the Chapman House and at the end of the Logging Road
NO alcoholic beverages allowed
Dogs are prohibited from Dec.1 to July 1
DO NO HARM : As always CSVW requires that visitors leave the trails as they find them.Guests should not disturb or remove any material (plant, stone or otherwise) as this may directly and adversely impact the animals and birds.
